Visit south-east Asia
Shuh Sen see saws
AEW THURNE Sales Director Tony Ambrose and Head of Sales Operations, Chris Mason recently visited Shuh Sen, of Taipei, Taiwan, one of the biggest users of the company's products in south-east Asia.
The company, which has two meat processing plants, also operates a chain of 150 steak house restaurants throughout the island. It recently opened its first on the Chinese mainland in Shanghai. Shuh Sen uses three APC Saws and an APS200 machine and recently took delivery of 10, AEW THURNE 400 Bandsaws.
Over the next five years the company plans to consolidate all its meat processing into one new factory, with the addition of an APC Slicer and an APC Saw.
Two fifths of the company's product goes through its own restaurant chain, the My Home Steak House, with the rest sold through Taiwanese supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and wholesalers.
Apparently when the first APC Saw was introduced, the staff were reluctant to use it, believing it would be slower than the existing horizontal slicing machines. However two months later, there had been a complete turn round and staff said they could not live without their APC. The company purchased a second machine within nine months!
