A fine repeat performance
in South Korea.
It seems there’s no limit to the success of AEW Delford
System’s unique combination of the advanced PolySlicer

Robot.
And nowhere more so than in South Korea, where Dong Won Food and Beverage – a division of Dong Won Industries – is beating the competition hands down in the race for market leadership in pre-packed, case ready sliced products.
Dong Won’s approach to any venture is, to put it mildly, thorough, and, when they decided to enter this market, they did so with supreme attention to detail especially when it came to sourcing the right production system. After much deliberation and comparison they settled on the PolySlicer 3000 Vision line because of its simple operation, efficiency, superior accuracy, advanced hygiene features that reduce CIP time and, last but not least, its small footprint.
The line produces fixed weight groups of sliced belly bacon at full and half widths. The process starts with the PolySlicer 3000 Vision which, thanks to its advanced, patented gripper design and intelligent high speed vision system delivers high yields coupled with precise, high output slicing. To arrive at the correct slice thickness, the vision system looks at the leading face of the product before slicing then calculates the cross section area and lean/fat ratio at high output levels. Sliced groups are then presented in a shingled format via the checkweigher to the IPL Robot which automatically picks them off the conveyor and places them into the pouches of a flexible film thermoformer. Packs are then sealed and packed ready for despatch.
An added bonus comes from the line’s versatility and ability to produce shingles and place them in a variety of formats such as full width bacon in line with product flow and half width bacon packed at 90 degrees to the product flow – all of which can be easily changed at the programme control panel.
Il Sang Kim, senior manager at the Dong Won Jincheon factory, has no doubts about the key role the AEW Delford system has played in helping the company achieve its success.“ Yes, we chose this system in preference to others because of the many advanced features already mentioned in this story, like low maintenance, high output, ease of operation, and easy hygiene,” he said. “But I should also praise the service we receive from AEW Delford and their long established distributor, Thematec with whom we have dealt for many years.”
The market for pre-packed, case ready products in South Korea continues to grow at a pace and we are absolutely certain that Dong Won will lead the way in satisfying the demand. You might ask how we can claim such a proud boast.
